Virgin In-Flight Magazine
Great to get a mention in the September issue of the Virgin Atlantic in-flight magazine. Their rear page is dedicated to the ‘change is in the air’ campaign and very kindly they have given us a shout, so hopefully all those first class red-eye travellers will get on-line to see how the duvet covers upcycle into quilts!
We had a mad panic to get photos to the magazine team as typically the request for images came when both Sam and I were on holiday, a very rare occurance – cue mad attempts to upload photos from campsite facilities…luckily we got there in the end and received a very nice write-up. Thanks!
Shop open sooooon
A little behind schedule, but we are making excellent progress with the shop and should be ready for opening by next monday, possible earlier if the testing goes well. We are still polishing the actual product shots and making sure Paypal is behaving, but once that’s done, we’re good to go, phew…

New photoshoot complete

We finished the shoot for the quilts on Saturday – it took 2 runs in the end, the first one was on Camber Sands and involved getting a vintage bed down onto the beach (which nearly got washed away with a quickly rising tide!). The second came on Saturday where we completed the collection of images down in St Mary’s bay another beautiful stretch of the Kent coast. Mima was our beautiful, and most patient model, and looks delightlful in all the shots. And Piers Golden was our fantastic photographer, managing to find time to shoot in between commissions for the Sunday Times travel. So an enormous thankyou – the homepage slider shows a selection, but here are a few more to wet your whistles!

Night Flight – Sunday Independent Magazine
Our first press piece! The Independent on Sunday Magazine – The Insider Column written by Kate Burt http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/house-and-home/interiors/the-insider–how-to-upcycle-without-much-effort-2343100.html You can also read her blog at yourhomeislovely.com
Night Flight – For feel-good children’s bedding, oldthreads.com recycles 600 thread-count first class airline duvet covers into stunning, 1950s-inspired toddler quilts. A memorable gift.
We’re also getting a mention in Virgin Atlantic’s September inflight magazine, so if you happen to be crossing the Atlantic this month, watch out.
Latest quilt prototypes have arrived
We’ve just received our latest prototypes from the quilters, the button pattern seems to be the most successful with the ‘Once upon a time’ design. These prototypes use a vintage linen sheet as backing, so we just need to test the same pattern but with an organic cotton backing as this creates a slightly different effect when washed. Hopefully that’ll be successful too – then we can go into production with our first batch.
Keep an eye on our boutique – we’ll be open for business in September!
